there wasn’t much inside but hurt
so buried underneath her dirt
she’d long been scarred — held by none
yet, prayed to see that pain undone
known, and sought, she’d feel inside
someone who’d never run to hide
a soul who’d know to bring her near
their spirit long since passed such fear
not frightened by her biggest heart
instead, inside, a path they’d chart
above the worries of their mind;
projected judgements from the blind
for once she’d not be on the chase
a gift to her of divine grace
just one who’d come to her instead
who’d not be scared by how she’d bled
they’d make her feel like who she was
a special girl deserving love
and bring such gorgeous times her way
those things she’d longed for everyday
