WELCOME TO STONE
I wrote, storyboarded, produced, directed, and edited both the picture and sound for this in method. I was imagining myself as a twelve-year-old boy. I went full Life Aquatic, nobody is going to understand what I’m doing-mode.
I’d watched a lot of The Perfect Weapon ahead of time.
My most common internal recognition that I was succeeding went like this.
That doesn’t make any sense.
Perfect.
I filmed this with a shoestring budget, on credit cards. It was Garett giving up. He'd not the will to go on. He was not a man.
I shot it on a 7D, lots of stabilization, without proper plugins, edited in Resolve Studio. Music and sound design elements were all Pond5'd. I wrote scripts, storyboarded, shot listed, made daily shooting-schedule pamphlets with it all, color-graded, sound designed, and paid no one a dime.
I messed up not doing titles for the many musicians and sound artists who I technically, legally, was not required to credit. I was doing it like George Romero, bought it all out ahead of time, and just hate making titles more than anything. I fucked that up. I reached out to many of them, and they didn’t really care. I don’t think they got it.
Someone told me the problem was ‘minor key.’ That’s a feature not a bug.
Also, just for funsies, this is how intentional all of my terrible choices were.
My process was to storyboard the script, then decode a shot list from what I’d need. Everything
