pour one more out for your old friend
the clock struck twelve
Spirit’s echoed voice had spoken
time to free her broken heart had come
no matter what she’d seen
no matter how she’d felt
it would be okay
not lost her trust of self
divine lies — each
reasons all — she’d choose to believe
each harsh guidance so well earned
her boldest ignorance wielded
ever pushed towards freedom
steered clear through darkest tidings
obsessed, no doubt, it was quite sad
she’d burn it up with one more song
every moment she’d remember
imprints of her soul
each gentle breath
their hand in hers
those sweetest risings from within
that bubbling spring of feeling, thought unreal
seen only within such heavenly glimpses ahead
a place felt home;
to hold them to her chest
sought so long
found there alone
hoped to be a pointing sign
wishing herself wrong
her gut mistaken
that all along — always sought
were those briefest moments to fade
yet be her everything
that time she lived
those nights
one trip
even now she’d do it over
for another breath beside them
she’d live it all again
it didn’t matter why
her heart just screamed it plain
never changing tune
a clearer voice to not be heard
she'd not be brought to close the door
wouldn’t
hope held too tightly
driving her to depths
an underworld she'd designed
because they didn’t want her so
and didn't seem to care
because they didn’t see her there
in all of their despair
there was no way to hold it all
she broke in every way
horror brought her firefall
a love they’d try to slay
now in her blood
she’d not escape
still needing peace
some gentle place
where to forget
no matter how
dear flow of grace
please show her now
