The BroadDeck
by Daphne Garrido
Seismic waves of bliss coursed through the tubing and steam valves of Twinerra’s mechanical hearts, sheltered by their steel encasements, beneath the petticoat so hiding her pleasure-sensor arrays, along with those most special places fore and aft her lower torso. She was otherwise quite nude, a silver sheen gleaming from her well-buffed aluminum outer-shell of most powerful brightness.
Before or after this day, she’d never see another cumulonimbus cloud like this. Its towering fortress of fluffiness so wrought of nature’s vanity, Twinerra was in heaven at its sight.
Magic was in the air today.
Something was changing in the world, its people of the sky, and within her hearts. The mechanisms of The BroadDeck were humming a most harmonious tune, air about carrying such energy of change, telling of something wicked on its way.
What could it be?
Twinerra planned to find out. She was flying forward into this cloudscape with rediscovered passion for breath, some glorious seed of hope in her spirit, unbelieving what was spoken by those whispers in her mind.
Yet still, she knew, this was going to be a very good day indeed.
Ubeeca was a planet of most fascinating wonders, creations made by beings of all stature and becoming, throwing free the doors to heaven within her skies. Great islands spread amongst her soaring cloudscapes were of most unknowable ways, as was the joy discovered within everyone here, quite lucky had been each soul who found their way to a life in this place.
Together, in this strangest world, surrounded by much they would never understand about its nature, or their own, holding tightly to wisdom which spoke truest of themselves, lifting each other with strength into these beautiful winds ever endeavoring to spread them apart and crash them together again, every heart would find the means to carve their own path to freedom.
God had made this place just for them.
Home for Twinerra was a very small island at a cross-section of lay lines. Ubecca’s skies had been carved through most gracefully by an abundance of great causeways, their force of manifested magic, steering its people’s gentle airships to and fro.
Skyway Five was a bold stoke cut through the heart of these most beautiful lands. It led Twinerra home this day, one hidden in a little secret corner between this greatest path of sky and one of its much smaller offshoots.
This special place to The BroadDeck and Twinerra; their home, was host of a most precious island, one they’d been entirely blessed to find. Within this cozy nook, ever shrouded by clouds, on the cusp of a cut of sun-burnt sky, so near not only these two great causeways, but a line of commute made for those without ships their own, this island was heaven.
Pulling into the dock of this most wonderful place, powerfully ridden with echoes of peace from the future, Twinerra was reminded of the blessings it had bestowed upon her life.
Most surprising connection to Ubbeca itself was found here, a profound stillness, despite its nearness to all the moving energy of its causeways. In fact, they were a healing property of the place itself, so loosening and releasing the tensions in Twinerra’s gears with each distant whoosh, and a chance for her to share all the love she cultivated with so many passersby.
She’d known for some time that love would join her in this place, and was realizing at this very moment where the day’s wonderful feeling came from; whenever they were to arrive, and whoever they might be, they were close.
Regardless of her lack of clarity in the knowing, this day would be most enjoyed, for she felt some form of most needed love on the horizon now. With each step she took inside her home, and outside in witness of Ubecca’s most bountiful splendor, Twinerra felt as if she could see and feel through the eyes and emotions of her second heart in some nearest future.
They were going to love it here.
